Crissi Honrath

Creativity has always been a big part of my life.

It exists in many forms.

In colours.

In spaces.

In the way I think.

At some point, it found its way onto the canvas.

My goal wasn't to become an artist.

It grew from within.

Without expectations.

Without a destination.

To this day, every painting begins without a sketch or a reference.

I simply follow my intuition.

I never know what will emerge.

I don't paint from an idea.

The idea is created on the canvas.

I'm not trying to tell a story.

My paintings tell me something that I first have to discover and understand myself.

I love it when something happens to the observer standing in front them.

When it moves them.

When it inspires them.

When it raises questions.

Everyone discovers something different.

Then there is that one moment.

Where I'm no longer looking at the painting.

The painting is looking back at me.

That's when I stop.
